Alan Kennedy founded Gibson Kennedy & Company in 1990 with David Gibson. Alan is the author of The Alpha Strategies: Understanding Strategy, Risk, and Values in Any Organization, a book on the structure of strategy and its communication.

 

Alan's focus is on teaching and writing on matters of strategy as well as facilitating discussion and communication of the strategic plan and  business plans, using frameworks and concepts he decribes in The Alpha Strategies.

 

Alan has extensive experience working for senior management and the board in for-profit, not-for-profit, and public sector corporations and extensive governance experience developed from attendance at more than 500 board meetings either as Secretary to the Board, as a Board member, or as an invitee.

 

Alan has been teaching for the Schulich Executive Education Centre at York University's Schulich School of Business since 1992. Alan's principal course is the highly popular and top-rated Strategic Management, a three day course on Situation Analysis, Strategic Planning, and Business Planning.

 

Alan has a BA and LLB from Dalhousie University and is a Fellow of the Canadian Association of Management Consultants.

David Gibson is a co-founder of Gibson Kennedy & Company, a Fellow of the Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals, and a member of the Canadian Association of Management Consultants. David received his MBA from York University's Schulich School of Business.

 

David retired from his consulting practice in 2018.
